BERENICE'S SECOND HOME

BERENICE'S SECOND HOME

Bere finds another home at the 601 building with her neighbors and the Community Building Initiative grant.

Twenty years ago, Berenice moved from Tijuana to the Maple neighborhood.  Eventually, she moved into a home across the street from a building at the end of Valencia. Bere watched as that building went from being an abandoned church to a new community center full of activity and life. Little did Bere know, the 601 building would someday be a second home for her and her family...

SOLFUL AGAIN!

SOLFUL AGAIN!

Grace's journey from being a SOLFUL volunteer to running her own site in the Maple community.

In the summer of 2010, Pastor Jay Lee charged his church, Eden (now Elements), to get outside of their church walls and embrace what God was doing in their city.  As a student at Cal State Fullerton, summers were usually a time of rest and recuperation for Grace Kim, but God kept tugging.  Jay’s call challenged her.  The city had a desperate need.  Due to budget restraints, summer school was cut.
