From Struggles to Growth

One student’s educational journey is transforming her GPA and strengthening her relationships at home.

Things began to change for Juliet when Kevin, our teen center lead, introduced a GPA challenge at the beginning of the semester. Complete with a tracker board and each student's name attached to a clothespin, Juliet jumped right in.

Tracking her progress and feeling proud of each improvement, she became determined to complete her homework at the teen center, ask for help when she needed it, and turn in every assignment. Little did she know, her determination became an example to her peers at the teen center to do the same. Her newfound inspiration challenged other teens, turning GPA improvement into a shared goal.

At home, the transformation was just as meaningful. The support and accountability Juliet received at the teen center not only equipped her with the tools to succeed in school but also brought about a positive change in her relationship with her mom.

Recently, her mom sent her a text saying, “We need to talk.” Nervous and unsure of what to expect, Juliet braced herself for what she thought might be a difficult conversation. Instead, she was met with a moment of joy—her mom wanted to celebrate her hard work and academic success with a thoughtful gift.

What was once a source of tension and uneasiness has evolved into moments of shared pride and encouragement. These small yet significant shifts have strengthened their bond, improving the relationship where there was once stress and struggle.

Last week, Juliet was at the teen center articulating the change at home, and in her own words, she expressed, “Things at home are way better.”

When teens like Juliet dedicate themselves to the educational opportunities Solidarity provides, the transformation is undeniable.

Students gain confidence, families build stronger connections, and communities begin to thrive.

It's through the hours spent learning, growing, and being supported that these changes take root and flourish. Your generosity makes this life-changing impact possible.

Can you donate more hours of educational programming for teens like Juliet to thrive at school and home this year-end?
